Am excellent place for lunch. I had the sirloin tips. I didn't know you could get excited about salad bar cheese but it was outstanding.

Great food! Their salmon is amazing, definitely the best in town. Service was good too. Love eating here.

My oh my. Expensive place. I could buy an entire mutton roast for the price of my steak. However, the steak did taste better than mutton. You can add a salad bar to your meal for a couple bucks, I opted not to but still had the salad bar. No one seemed to know I hadn't paid so I got some soup for me and some carrots and macaroni salad for my wife. She tends to just have gimlets (if available) or beer for dinner, but I got her some carrots to nibble on between drinks. The soup was a bit too hot, they should turn down those burners. Prime rib was good, I ordered it medium rare. When my steak arrived it was medium rare but I decided at that point I wanted a rare steak. Our server, Jameis was very rude about this. Shame on you Minerva's. The decor inside was nice, almost too nice. Perhaps they should take down some fancy decorations and pass the savings along?

Fine dining in the old-fashioned way. I went because I was craving a good salad so I went in for the salad bar. It was a disappointment to say the least. If you like fresh spring greens and lots of crisp veg and other toppings go somewhere else. But if you do like iceberg lettuce, creamy pasta salads, commodity cheeses and mini bagels such as found at Costco then help yourself. Next time I crave a salad I'll go to the grocery store salad bar. Also the bartender was incredibly inattentive and had all the charm of a bar towel. Other menu items may be just fine; I confess I haven't tried them and probably won't due to this experience.

Great Ambience. Food is a bit pricey but tastes good too. So worth it. Crowded but still calm. Great for dates or family outings. Not a lot of classy options in Sioux Falls so definitely one of the best in town

Nothing says Sioux Falls quite like Minerva's! It's been an institution downtown since I was born. When I was little it was a treat to be able to go to dinner with my parents instead of staying at home with a babysitter. Nothing has changed...my boys went with my parents and I for the first time this week. A treat for all!! We had lunch on a Saturday and my parents, of course, got the salad bar. And this isn't just any salad bar...salads, fruit, veggies, salmon, soup, bread, more than anyone could ask for. They even had the cheese bacon soup...another tradition here as long as I can remember. I had the honey pepper salmon...it couldn't have been any more delicious! SO yummy! My boys liked theirs too, but my older son decided that he would order the salmon next time. My other son loved his pizza! The two children's menu items came with drinks and vanilla ice cream with chocolate :) I would recommend Minerva's to anyone!!

This restaurant can't possibly be rated 4 stars on here, really? Minervas isn't what it used to be! Last time I visited with a reservation, the staff was 20 minutes late seating us. The waitress (which has been an older woman with short hair the past two times on a Saturday night) doesn't care. Didn't look us in the eye when we communicated and casually attempted to hurry us out by asking us if we wanted anything else after we had only had a few bites of our main course. I promptly told her that we weren't finished with our entree and well, she got the hint. I have spent a lot of time dining in Europe and it especially irritates me when American servers do not allow their guests to properly enjoy their meal without being rushed or given a sales pitch that goes on for several minutes. This restaurant is supposedly considered fine dining in Sioux Falls. Treat the guest like they are in a fine restaurant instead of an Olive Garden and don't rush them, please. The bread is bland and so is the butter. I ordered walleye on my last visit and I would've had a better tasting fish at long john silvers. Why is all of your salmon on the menu "fresh Atlantic?" ....you mean farmed salmon? I had salmon on top of a salad and it was clearly farmed, cheap, and oozing with white fat! Atlantic salmon is what Applebees serves! Come on Minervas!...If this is fine dining, why cant you serve fresh wild caught salmon. Don't be cheap.

The food was excellent. The stroganoff, bread, and salad were very tasty and clearly prepared by someone who knew what they were doing. Service was professional and relatively prompt. Price is reasonable for the quality provided. Highly recommend.

Good food. Sat on the outdoor patio in beautiful weather for lunch. Service was a little bit slow, but not too bad - our waitress was in training. I would come here again if I were in town longer - but only spending one day in Sioux Falls.

Very good restaurant. I had lunch and dinner here. The salad bar is excellent. At lunch it has stuff for sandwiches and smoked salmon. The tomato zucchini soup is darn good. For dinner I had a filet that was cooked perfect and was quite tender. I thoroughly enjoyed it. I thought the wine prices were also reasonable.

One of the finest places to eat with a classic reputation throughout the years! The food, atmosphere, staff and clientele is what keeps their customers coming back! Don't miss their famous Salad Bar with Soups, Salads, Meats, Crackers, Cheeses, Vegetables, Bagels, and so much more! If you're hungry for a Steak.... please choose their Filet Mignon!! It is done to perfection every time with such flavor! EnJOY! CJ

A nice restaurant with good food and drink. I think the service was well-intentioned, but not necessarily adept. To start with, we entered the restaurant and no one was at the podium to welcome and seat us. We waited for a few minutes while we watched a waitress run to get someone. If the maitre'd is occupied with other duties, then someone else should be assigned to take his or her place. It's the mark of a good restaurant. As for the food, our steaks were top notch. I had the ribeye and it was cooked to a perfect medium rare, and the sweet potato fries came as I ordered them, extra crispy. My wife's filet mignon was also cooked and seasoned just right with a deliciously prepared side of asparagus. Drinks took a bit longer than I would have thought to get to our table, even though the restaurant and bar were not all that busy. The same thing happened with dessert when the bartender couldn't prepare any decaf espresso. It took over 5 minutes for our waitress to report that there was a problem. The irony was that I hadn't ordered decaf, just a regular espresso. Good food and drink, but the service at this restaurant could use some polish.

Great. Ordered the Minervas New York Strip with a caesar salad and a side of white cheddar mashed potatoes. I've been on a road trip from VA to Yellowstone and back. Of the 4 steaks consumed, this is by far the best steak and salad during the duration of this trip. The thing that really struck me was that the service was top notch and on par with more expensive restaurants. I am happy to be able to give Minervas five stars and my meal of the trip award.

This is my 2nd or 3rd review on Minervas... not sure where my other 2 ended up (probably the toilet where this review will probably go also). I'm not sure what's going onbut it is quickly turning into a salad bar place for my entire family and friends. The past 3 meals I've had, have been disappointing. A few nights ago, I had Salmon - - the best part about it was the hash browns on top. The salmon was close to raw and served luke warm at best. I didn't return it b/c I was hungry and didn't want to delay my family/friends. Service is great as always but dang, what's up with the main dishes? For the money, there are other places in Sioux Falls to enjoy. I wonder if anyone else is having these experiences?

Went for an early lunch mid week. Service was fast and friendly. Food was delicious, but appeared to have sat for a bit while all the other orders were prepared of whom I was with. The atmosphere was as expected. Became quite busy as the hour or so passed that I was there. The staff was able to keep up though.

Very good salad bar but stay away from the Puget Sound "crepes". Invisible crab with tiny bay scallops in a soupy, gluey sauce. There were a few grilled shrimp trying to stay afloat on top. The waitress was great about taking it back and not charging us for it. She said she usually warns people if they have not had the dish before that it is more like "seafood gravy" than crepes with sauce. Good, but not great, beef stroganoff.

Pricing is appropriate for the quality of food. Wait staff is excellent and we have never had a bad experience. All the entree's I have had are excellent and I would recommend anything on the menu. However the star of the place has to be the salad bar. I love it. they have a good selection of typical salad fixings and side salads such as potato salad. They have bread and meats, cheese's for sandwiches, and two soups (try the tomato bisque) Only downside is parking. Since Minerva's is downtown you are at the mercy of downtown parking.

Good drinks. Had the honey salmon with broccoli. Although it was a nice meal, I could have made this at home. Dark and intimate atmosphere. Will try other places, or probably should get a steak next time.

Minerva's is famous for their salad bar. It is delicious and fun, and a great time for the family. They also have a small private room if you want to get away from the rest of the diners. The food is amazing!

I would encourage you to check this place out! I got some great food here, Although I can't remember what I got, why I liked it so much or much less anything else about the visit, but I CAN remember that I wanted to remember to go again - and that the food was rad. Its upscale, and kind of hauty tauty, but they'll accept you in your jeans, but maybe not your "woodsman" style hat and Cabellas T-Shirt. Then again... Its only "upscale" for South Dakota, so maybe I'm wrong. How about this: Wear a shirt. Wash your hair. and shoes are recommended.

This place serves good steaks, and the service is pretty good, but the atmosphere is a bit stuffy and dark. The salad bar, while tempting isn't that great.

Even with the emergence of some of the other eateries in downtown, Minervas is still the place for me when i want a good dinner downtown. Everything ive ever had there has been great the lobster mac and cheese is delicious. The seafood crepe they have at times is amazing as well. Also, best salad bar ever. That alone makes the trip worthwhile!

This was a special night, as I was celebrating the end of a weeklong bicycling vacation with two girlfriends, and we were meeting family and friends to do so. We wanted to make sure everything would be perfect, so we chose Minerva's, the foundation of fine, delicious dining in Sioux Falls, and we were not disappointed! We had seven in our party, and we had originally thought we would sit and eat in the bar to avoid the reservation hassle, but when the first group of us arrived, they were able to get a restaurant table. Our service was attentive and adept, even with late arrivals and separate tickets, etc. We all had different kinds of orders (one with just a salad, or an appetizer, a couple with full meals, etc.), and there were no problems with the service or checks. Several of us started with cocktails, which were mixed and served perfectly, including my cosmopolitan. Our salads arrived before our appetizers, which was fine, and then my pheasant ravioli starter was placed before me. It was described as "Saffron Pasta, Pheasant, Frangelico, Pine Nut Filling, Shiitake Mushroom Cream Sauce" for $8.95. It would normally be enough for a meal for me and it was delicious, but I had burned 3,000 calories that day riding, so I went for more and ordered the filet mignon (6 oz, with dinner salad, $21.95) "very, very rare." I was concerned when I told the waitress as she was very matter-of-fact and didn't react; I was worried that she wouldn't relay the "very" and the "very," but when it came it was PERFECT: slight char on the outside and cold in the middle. The garlic mashed potatoes were a perfect side. I had a glass of J. Lohr cabernet with the meal, and it was a lovely complement. We had so much fun that night with delicious food and great service. The room in which we were seated was casual and friendly, and my friends interacted pleasantly with some diners around us, who were obviously really enjoying their time as well. Minerva's deserves its reputation as the leader in Sioux Falls dining. Don't miss this downtown spot that is located in South Dakota, but could compete anywhere.

Wife and I dined here while visiting family in Sioux Falls, based on numerous recommedations. Appetizers were a little on the small side for the price, and were slightly above average. We had the portobello mushroom and the crab dip. The only thing we were disappointed in during our dinner. Salad bar was a nice touch, with some good options. Would be nice to see them offer a few more basic salad ingredients, as that was a little light, but that is a very small complaint. Steaks were fantastic. We both ordered filets, mine Oscar style with the crab and asparagus, my wifes just the standard filet. Both were cooked perfectly, and the bacon wrapping on them is a very nice touch. Service was also excellent, very friendly and quick with whatever we needed. We would definitely return the next time we are in town.

In the middle of rural South Dakota lies some old world charm and fine dining. This is Minervas. Dim lighting, custom tile entrance, a fancy pants menu, fine wine and nice beers on tap and great food. I was really surprised by this place and also the amount of fresh fish they have on the menu. If you are in Sioux Falls and in need of a nice restaurant go here. You won't be disappointed. The surrounding stores and bars are also cool to check out.

I really like this place. I'm from the SF Bay Area and do travel a bit, so am quite spoiled when it comes to good cuisine. Minerva's is a very good place for good food. I was in town on business last week and ate here both nights I was in town. It was worth the three block walk from my hotel in sub-zero weather. The first night I had the New York Strip steak and the second night I had the Mahi Mahi. Both prepared to perfection. Both nights I had the Caesar salad (with anchovies). A very good, non-creamy dressing with fresh romaine lettuce. Ambiance is clubby. Service (yes, I ate at the bar) was excellent. Kudos to bartender Michael for being attentive and knowledgeable about the nuances of the food offerings. A note about downtown Sioux Falls. It is a beautiful stretch of stores and restaurants. Most stores close at or before 6:00 and I regret that I didn't have the opportunity to do some Christmas shopping before the stores closed. Anyway, check this place out when in town. If I'm ever back I'll head straight to Minerva's for dinner.

A special place for your special person and special events! However if you are alone and have nothing special happening, well dine here and that will make it special. My wife and I enjoyed Minerva!s in the 80's, and then left the area until we returned in 2003. We had the privilege of traveling a majority of the United States and most of Europe. We were fortunate to enjoy fine dining everywhere, but no finer than the food and service at Minerva's. While others have complained about pricing; we find it the best value for fine service and superior food. If you long for old fashioned hospitality, excellent cuisine and a memorable evening, enjoy Minerva's.

Thank God for Yelp! We were in Sioux Falls for one night staying at the Convention Center. Driving around that area looking for anything that wasn't a chain restaurant was impossible, we also found a few sketchy neighborhoods that I wasn't expecting out of Sioux Falls. If your travels ever find you here do yourself a favor and get to the downtown area immediately. When you get downtown a great dining option is Minerva's. We each had steaks which were done perfectly and the salad bar was awesome. It's a really great location to walk up and down Phillips Ave which has a lot of great (and not at all scary) shops. Thanks again Yelppers!

I was in town from LA and Mierva's was highly recommended. I'm really glad I went. It's on a really quaint street and the restaurant is nice too. I had the roast duck and it was amazing. If I ever go back to South Dakota, and I seriously doubt I will, I will certainly return to Minerva's!

Travelling for business and read about Minerva's online. Great meal and great service. The Tiramisu was fantastic! It's home made and not from a food distributor.

Gluten intolerant and celiacs be warned--Minerva's waitstaff has zero knowledge on our condition. Our waitress last time assured me she'd confirmed with the kitchen that their ranch dressings were gluten free (one is even listed as a suggested option on their glutenfree menu). Today i returned and was told that no, the ranch definitely contained wheat. I expect better of such a high-class restaurant--the staff at Culver's has more knowledge than this place. Disgusting.

Was in Sioux Falls, SD for work. Visited Minerva's because the Yelp reviews were good. Aided by a coworker, harassed the piano-playing Katie. Had the "Steak Michael" and the featured amber brew. Good reviews were well-deserved. Steak was cooked flawlessly. I'm not usually one for dressing up a steak, but really enjoyed the peppercorn/horseradish. I forgot that I don't especially like bleu cheese, at no fault of the restaurant. I'd be willing to exchange years off my life for more of that appetizer bread (and butter). One of the most flavourful, crisp crusts I've ever had. Years. Service was good and a good sport. Meant to have dessert, but filled up prior to remembering. Learn from my bad example..!

Lunch was exquisite. The salad bar had a variety of food at a decent price. It consisted of a selection of pastas, salads, and side dishes. I would recommend eating here to anyone. Things to watch out for is the lunch hour. Even if it is a weekday, expect this place to be busy.

It's a classic staple in Sioux Falls. You get what you'd expect from an older establishment and they are consistent. Great steaks, seafood and of course their salad bar. They don't take much of a risk when it comes to putting together a menu, but it works for them. We will continue to visit until someone in Sioux Falls creates more quality restaurants.
(4)

I'm assuming this is the town's swankiest hotel and you definitely get that vibe and felt like a classic, nice sit down restaurant (which makes sense if it's been around for over 30 years). Now about the food...The bread brought out for the table was dry. I had the house salad which was plain, I could make a better one for myself at home. My entree was so-so. I opted for the herb crusted Mahi Mahi since it isn't always on the menu and I figured would be the most 'fresh' seafood option. The fish was a little overcooked/dry. This came with green beans (perfectly cooked) and wild rice.

Minerva's is the prime high class restaurant in Sioux Falls. They have everything from burgers, crepes, steaks to FRESH fish. This is the place to go if you want to impress your dining partner. Besides have great entrees they have a salad bar that is out of this world. Additionally in the summer they have a wonderful area for outside dining.

As a long operating fine dining establishment in Sioux Falls, Minervas enjoys an almost unshakeable reputation as perhaps the best restaurant in the area. The atmosphere and decor are traditional and comfortable. It is almost always bustling with efficient wait staff and bus boys filling water glasses and clearing plates. The menu is steak, seafood and pasta along with a list of house specialities including duck and pork chops among other interesting items. There is a traditional salad bar that is very popular. My latest meal however was disappointing from the stand point of the quality of the main courses ordered. I had the shrimp and scallop scampi which had a nice buttery lemon sauce and wide ribbon noodles which were a bit heavy. Shrimp and scallops were scarce. My son ordered the smaller of the two ribeye portions offered with baked potato. The steak was inferior. My wife ordered seafood crepe, one of the house specialities. Unfortunately this item was very bland, with barely any seafood to be seen. Overall I would still recommend Minervas as a place to go for traditional dining experience. From past experience I can say that the quality of the food can range from average to quite good. My most recent experience was however disappointing.

The short version: I really liked Minerva's. Liked the atmosphere, which was ornate, a bit old-fashioned (and I mean that in a good way), and eclectic. We were in town on business with a group of eight, and a waitress at our hotel recommended this restaurant, so we called and asked if they could accommodate our party. No problem! We drove down, hung our coats in the coat room, and headed to our table. The good: Our food was delicious. I had the New York steak, and it was one of those moments where you bite into something, and then look around at your friends with a grin spreading across your face, of the "wow, this is really good" variety. Asparagus was delicious, well-cooked and seasoned with some something that tasted of citrus (lemon pepper)? Nice drink menu as well, I ordered an old-style Manhattan and was not disappointed. The not-quite-as good: Dinner took a long time (to be fair, we had a decent sized party), and the service, while polite, wasn't perhaps as friendly or personal as I'd like. To their credit, they comped us our bottle of wine due to the long wait time, without being asked. This was by far the best meal I had while staying in Sioux Falls. A little pricey, but very tasty, and served in a charming atmosphere.

More like a 3.5. It took me a while to figure out what I wanted.. so many different kind of meat!! But the choice was obvious. As a CA girl, I had to get the buffalo. Do they even sell those in CA?! I was also going to get the house salad since I'm not a very big salad person but was persuaded into getting the salad bar option. Unfortunately, I was disappointed. There was about 2 kinds of lettuce and lots of vegetables but they were missing the 2 most important: bacon and cheese!! I ate part of my salad but it wasn't as "exciting" as I imagined. But my buffalo came and it was presented nicely with my asparagus. The meat was very tender and had a light, lean taste to it unlike regular beef. I ordered it medium and it was a little bit too cooked for me but it still tasted alright. I thought that there could be a little bit more sauce as the meat was pretty flavorless itself. It was a good overall vibe but not the best I've ever had.

It was a Saturday night and very crowded. We had an 8 pm reservation, showed up 45 minutes early and decided to eat at the bar instead of waiting for a table. The service was good and fast (which this NYer appreciates). My brother and I both had the filet mignon which came out fast, was cooked perfect (medium and medium rare). I thought it was weird that all of the specials were fish that come from the ocean being a couple thousand miles from an ocean. In all I recommend Minerva's and the filet.

An odd combination of excellence and mediocrity, weighed heavily toward excellence where it counts most. A wonderful atmosphere, rich and quiet, with reasonable prices for the quality of most of the food. Salad bar outstanding. Wine selection excellent. Steak entree excellent. Aspargus side excellent. Scallop entree would have been excellent but was merely OK because it was too salty. (Most restaurants batter and destroy scallops, so my "scallops test" is one that very few pass.) Desserts and coffee mediocre. Burnt cream actually a pudding. Key lime pie had candy key limes on top without which there would have been no lime taste at all. The coffee, a decaf, tasted like Ovaltine. Avoid the desserts, stick with the wine, and you'll walk out of there feeling just fine.

Always on our list when visiting the fam in Soux Falls and also Watertown. Great service, great food, always a winner in our book. Love their Beef Stroganoff but do have to ask for extra sour cream. And the French Dip is outrageous. Excellent salad bar with and awesome cheddar cheese spread that gets me every time. I do give extra cusos to the waitstaff, the are attentive and always professional. I grew up in SF and remember this restaurant when it was called Lemons and we cut cafeteria at WSHS to come here. (we also went to the Nickel Plate on 12th and Phillips). My Mom who is 86 also remembers coming to Lemons during her time at WSHS ( yup, we both went to the same high school!). Quite a place with quite a history wouldn't you say

Thank you again to all of the Yelpers who recommended this place. My fiance and I went this evening...The food was wonderful, the service was good, and the ambiance was very nice. We sat outside and admired the architecture of the old town and took in some fresh air. It was higher priced (we spend about $60 for two great meals, including tip and one drink.) If you want a clean restaurant, great ambiance, and great food, we definitely recommend.

On a rainy night in Sioux Falls, this place was a fantastic find. Service was exceptional, food was of the highest quality, and it's a beautiful atmosphere. We both had steaks that rival any other high-priced Steakhouse we've visited. Definitely recommend this to others visiting the area.

If it were Chicago it'd be 2 stars but in downtown Sioux Falls one doesn't have many options at 9pm on a Monday night. Considering we didn't pass another pedestrian on the walk back to the hotel this place could only be described as bustling and seemed to be a popular spot with travelling sales reps and locals alike. Meals come with a salad bar that is kept clean and clear. Tasty chilli, but most salads were old BBQ favourites and heavily mayonnaise leaning. Was going to stop there but it was $2 more to get the bison burger with salad option. Atmosphere was typical mid western steak house, but the staff were super friendly and very attentive.

I love Minerva's! My family has been going here my entire life. The have wonderful, fresh, quality food. I personally love getting the salad bar. They have great pasta salads and soups. I also really like the salmon salad here and the filet. The atmosphere is great for a romantic evening or a large group. We have used their basement party room before and that was nice also. My only con about this place is the service has been shotty on occasion and once it was down right rude but that was only once in dozens of visits. Overall, this is one of the best places to eat in Sioux Falls.

Chris C.
If you like WAY over-priced, boring food, look no further. The only reason to ever burn your money here is the kind bartender and the fact that it's the only thing that's not Applebee's, Ruby Tuesday's, or a drive-thru that's open after 9 in SuFu, SoDak.

I liked Minerva's. It's a bit overpriced but for an occasional nice night out it's great. Steaks are good and service is too. They could tone down the salad bar and focus on some of the misses that Lana hit on (and I agree with).

You cannot go wrong with one of the staples of Sioux Falls fine dining. Amazing food, service and atmosphere. Try their brunch buffet as you will never go wrong. I don't have a favorite because everything is so great. You need to treat yourself at least once in your lifetime to what is in my opinion one of the best dining establishments around. Highly recommended!

Ok the positive first: our server was friendly, they seated us right away and I enjoyed the dark contemporary atmosphere. I also thought the prices were extremely reasonable. Our Caesar salad was a nice size portion and very good, except there were no anchovies. The steak was seasoned very well. Ok the negative: the bread before the meal was not warm and the butter served with it was cold and hard, so pretty much impossible to spread. the service seemed a bit rushed. I like to take my time when I dine. The mashed potatoes were luke warm. And the food presentation was nothing special. Also, the person that gave us water when we first sat down just greeted us by saying "hi" in a manner that you could tell she really did not care. Overall I was disappointed with this place that has such great reviews on Yelp. I wouldn't rush back. The entire experience was just mediocre.

Great for a mixed group. Has a warm 1920s/speakeasy-era interior. I came within a group of 6 at lunchtime without a reservation and was seating almost immediately at a round table- conducive to conversation. To celebrate spring and warmer weather, the Watermelon Cucumber Cooler totally fit the bill. It tasted like a refreshing watermelon Jolly Rancher with cooling cucumber. Ahhhh! The Cranberry Pecan Salad of spinach, pears, gorgonzola, crasins, pecans, with raspberry vinaigrette was tasty and large enough to be shared as a side. For my main course, I was thoroughly satisfied with the medium-rare, juicy Dakota Buffalo Burger with my choices of savory blue cheese topping and crisp, sweet potato fries. Everything hit the spot HARD!

Very bad service. Ran out of water and was not offered a refill. I was sitting at the bar. Will not return for another visit

Steak Michael was incredible! One of the best dinners I've had. The service was good. The only downside to the evening was the hostess (pregnant girl) was brain dead. She made a simple task of finding us a table a painful event.

My wife treated me to dinner here to celebrate my 60th birthday and surprised me with the entire family! Second time I've been here. Service was great. We had 14 people at our table and the two waitresses did an awesome job of tending to our every need. 3 of us had the Ribeye, 2 of us had the Walleye plate, 2 had the Salmon plate, and the others had some great dishes that I did not note. The dishes were great. Salad bar had a lot of choices. We were all pleased with our dishes and will be back. This was an awesome evening for me in that it was my 60th birthday and that it was at Minerva's. I wouldn't have gone anywhere else. Thanks.

My first job was a busser at Minerva's YEARS ago so I have to say I'm a little biased. It had been 5 years since I'd been back in Sioux Falls and I knew the first place on my list for restaurants was Minerva's. I LOVE the Hunter's Ribeye. It's so flavorful. I got the asparagus which I probably won't get next time because they were too thick for my taste but really that's just me being picky. The Hunter's Ribeye was A+++ as it always has been. I love how they've remodled the place as well. One thing I'd recommend them to change is the flavor they chose for the front of house mints. They tasted like cough syrup. Please bring back the fruity ones! Did I mention get the Hunter's Ribeye?

I have eaten here numerous times and this restaurant deserves a FIVE STAR rating. They have been great.

My co-worker and I decided to dine here while in town on business. He had previously been here once before. We were quickly seated in a roomy booth in the main dining area. Our server was prompt and friendly and answered our questions. I chose the grilled shrimp served with roasted potatoes and a pesto sauce and a side salad. The salad was rather plain, but you have the option of upgrading to the salad bar, which my co-worker did and his salad was pretty robust looking. We were also served two mini loaves of bread with butter. The butter was a bit hard to spread as it was so cold, but the bread was good. My seafood was fresh and it was the perfect amount of food. I decided against dessert, but eyed the key lime pie before deciding against it.

Salad bar is fantastic! I had the walleye entree and I couldn't finish it because I added the salad bar for $3. Great atmosphere, full bar and an all around nice place. Server was friendly and will def be back!

Very nice small town / European feel. Sit outside on the bistro tables enjoy an apertif or a glass of wine and excellent food.

So, for others who said this place is fancy, I would say the only thing fancy are the prices. The salad bar is lack luster. The steaks fine but nothing spectacular. And please for the love of good play better music if you are going to play music it was a step up from elevator music.

Great fine dining in Sioux Falls. Minerva's has a relaxed, quiet atmosphere despite its huge size. I got the Prix Fixe special, which is a three course bargain before 6:30. First course was the salad bar ($2.50 extra) but well worth it. Soup is included in the bar, and on another day they would have been a meal by instead. The only thing disappointing was the mild cheddar cheese blocks. I was hoping for something higher quality in the Midwest. Main course was the sirloin. Perfectly cooked at medium rare, although a little under salted. The potatoes, mushrooms, and onions on the side were fantastic. Dessert was the key lime pie. Not too tart and very creamy. We must have stayed at least a couple hours but there was no rush from staff to get out the door. A very inviting restaurant and a very relaxing dinner. I'll definitely go back if I'm in town.

Phenomenal salad bar. Steaks were cooked to perfection. Ambiance A+. We could not find a single problem here and will make it a regular stop every time we are inSioux Falls.

Great lunch today in Sioux Falls...cute area of downtown with shops and restaurants...had the salad bar...or more like everything bar...salads, fruit, deli meat, cheese, and two types of soup...also had some amazing salmon...went up for two helpings! Will definitely be back when I am back in town. Had a great dinner menu as well. Sat outside on the patio since it was a beautiful day!

While I have not tried many places in Sioux Falls this place was the most recommended in a number of sites and web pages. My initial reaction was "eh!" Not bad but certainly not worth a special trip to SD. I worried about such massive regard for their salad bar. After this visit I guess local visitors measure quality in alternate ways. SD native I guess this is OK for you. Visitors, you'll be underwhelmed.

I sat at the bar and enjoyed dinner off the appetizer menu. I put myself in the hands the my bartender and bar manager as they pointed me in the right direction. They made suggestions of the Cesar salad, calamari, and the South Dakota classic beef chislic. The manager recommended a Lodi California produced cabernet, Carnivor. A great choice in everything and a wonderful meal.

When I travel to the Sioux Falls area this is my go to restaurant when I am in the mood for high quality food. The service is always top-notch, with the wait-staff frequently checking in. I enjoy pairing the salad bar with a steak or with one of their seafood dishes. On my last visit I tried the potato crusted salmon and was very impressed with the gently crunchy outer layer, yet very tender and moist fish inside.

Had lunch today here. Extensive salad bar with tons of average fixins, good for puttin on the feedbag. We all had entrees. Wifey and I ordered meals "with asparagus", beware that means 2-3 stalks and no more. My salmon came with a teaspoon of bernaise. Kind of a typical Midwestern American overpriced meal where you pay for atmosphere. The service was excellent, very attentive.

By far the best 8oz steak I have ever had from a restaurant. Portions are healthy, but filling and all of the food is exquisite. I am a lifetime patron and I order a new dish every time I eat at Minerva's...and I have yet to be disappointed. Beautiful restaurant too. Certainly part of the true downtown experience and an excellent place to share a special event or meal celebration.

Food was very good, but a tad skimpy. Service was excellent! Very nice/helpful staff.
A good place to eat. The steak I had was phenomenal with a great steak gravy. The salad bar was good but the soups were rather bland. I had the Tiramisu to top the meal off, the flavor was fantastic. The restaurant is generally great food however the price matches unless you order a special.

This place is really cute, and it has a great ambiance. Their salad bar looked phenominal, but I opted for their watermelon feta salad, and it was fabulous. I ordered the tournedos, and it came with two styles of filet. The filets were cooked to a perfect MR, but I didn't love the toppings on them. I think I prefer to just let the filet sing by itself. Overall, I really loved this place, and I think it is something very special in Sioux Falls.

I found this place on a business trip to Sioux Falls. Nice atmosphere and solid salad bar with lots of yummy stuff from which to choose. The tomato zucchini soup was delicious. Several fish choices were available. Frankly, I'm biased against farm raised salmon, which is featured on the menu. It never seems to have the silky, flaky texture and flavor of line caught varieties, so I elected to have the line caught sockeye, which was nut encrusted. Flavor was good, but it was slightly overlooked...could have been better, hence the three star rating. Was a traveler, I most often eat at the bar. The service was friendly and attentive. There seem to be many good choices for dinner in this lovely little downtown. This is a good one and definitely worth a visit.

Very nice place, looks like an old school steak house. The smallest filet is about 6oz, the sides were delicious. The salad bar is only $3 bucks when you add it to an entree and it is a good looking salad bar. They have a full bar and a bunch of wine options, they also have large beer selection. Good steak, well prepared. Came out to be about $40 per person with drinks no desert.

Went to Minervas tonight to celebrate my brother's birthday. We made reservations for 7:15 and arrived a few minutes early. We then waited and waited while other groups came in and were seated right away. We weren't seated until 7:35 (20 minutes past our reservation time). The atmosphere was upscale and comfortable, and the food was good. I ordered the Fillet Mignon and asked for it medium-rare. It came and was cooked perfect, however the server brought the wrong order for my brother so we all waited patiently for another 10 minutes for his right meal to arrive so we could all eat together. Even though the food was good, the overall experience was ruined by all the waiting. The reason people make reservations is so they don't have to sit and wait! I most likely will not be back.

Great service. food is consistently good. I had the chicken Wellington and it was very good. I've never been disappointed with anything I've ordered on the menu. They have a full bar and a nice selection of wine. Salad bar has a nice selection including two soups. The salad bar is only $3 if you add it to your entree. This is a " must do " when you're in Sioux Falls.

Well done Minervas'!! The salmon salad is excellent- grilled asparagus, salmon, artichoke, roasted red peppers, and tomatoes. What a great combination! Excellent wine list selection, great atmosphere, and service was great. I will definitely come back.

Had dinner last night and had the salmon with asparagus and mashed potatoes. Also had a q of the J Lohr Cabernet. Honestly, the food and the service were fine. It just wasn't as good as all the other reviews. Had I not had such high expectations, I might have given another star, but sadly for a $40 meal, I just expect more.

(4)David B.

Incredible food and atmosphere. Great place for date night!

Love the salad bar! Great price for it too.

(2)Mark T.
The food was excellent. The stroganoff, bread, and salad were very tasty and clearly prepared by someone who knew what they were doing. Service was professional and relatively prompt. Price is reasonable for the quality provided. Highly recommend.
(5)Patrick S.
Good food. Sat on the outdoor patio in beautiful weather for lunch. Service was a little bit slow, but not too bad - our waitress was in training. I would come here again if I were in town longer - but only spending one day in Sioux Falls.
(4)Greg Y.

(4)Younggi M.
(5)CJ T.
(2)Sherri T.
good, not outstanding. we prefer Foley's for some reason....it wasn't bad, just didn't leave us feeling overly impressed.
(3)Anthony B.
Went for an early lunch mid week. Service was fast and friendly. Food was delicious, but appeared to have sat for a bit while all the other orders were prepared of whom I was with. The atmosphere was as expected. Became quite busy as the hour or so passed that I was there. The staff was able to keep up though.
(4)Karen W.
(2)Devon B.
(5)Gina M.
Good drinks. Had the honey salmon with broccoli. Although it was a nice meal, I could have made this at home. Dark and intimate atmosphere. Will try other places, or probably should get a steak next time.
(3)Elana H.
Minerva's is famous for their salad bar. It is delicious and fun, and a great time for the family. They also have a small private room if you want to get away from the rest of the diners. The food is amazing!
(5)Ashley G.
(4)Morris N.
Was at Minerva's for a late dinner after getting into Sioux Fall late on a Friday night. There was no wait. I had a filet, baked potato, and salad bar. Food was not bad and service was decent.
(3)Nate T.
The filet mignon and cajun chicken linguine are the best i've ever had.
(5)Scott Z.
I only writing this review to let everyone know that their tomato soup on the salad bar is he best I have ever had.
(4)Johnny A.
This place serves good steaks, and the service is pretty good, but the atmosphere is a bit stuffy and dark. The salad bar, while tempting isn't that great.
(3)Seth T.

(5)Dan K.
(4)Aaron B.
(5)Tom S.
Best restaurant is Sioux Falls. Go and enjoy one of the finer restaurants in the Midwest. Top-notch.
(5)David W.
(4)Jerry N.
(5)Rick L.
(4)Brian B.
(4)Robert M.
Travelling for business and read about Minerva's online. Great meal and great service. The Tiramisu was fantastic! It's home made and not from a food distributor.
(5)Amanda D.
Disgusting.
(1)Arjun B.
(5)Rachael B.
Had a good steak dinner while traveling through Sioux Falls. Yummy steak, good wine, really good salad. Couldn't complain!
(4)Sujan P.
Amazing crisp bread ESP the seeded wheat & REAL butter! Or at least it tasted like it. Paprika chic w sage gravy & garl mashed potatoes was done perfectly. This was a surprisingly good find in SF!
(5)Cari W.
Really great food
(5)Austin H.
Lunch was exquisite. The salad bar had a variety of food at a decent price. It consisted of a selection of pastas, salads, and side dishes. I would recommend eating here to anyone. Things to watch out for is the lunch hour. Even if it is a weekday, expect this place to be busy.
(4)Mike C.
(4)Thanh H.

Alway a great meal!

A Sioux Falls tradition. I've heard people from all over the country mention eating at Minervas when visiting Sioux Falls. One of our favorites.

Since 1977 this is the place to be seen in Sioux Falls. The Mother Ship of Minerva's,also located in Aberdeen,Yankton,Watertown,Rapid City in South Dakota. If you want top quality meals this is the place to be.

Very tasty food, good attentive wait staff, tender cuts of meat! Nice club like atmosphere plus outside seating when good weather in Sioux Falls. Salad bar is excellent with many choices! Concur with prior ratings given! Worth the money definitely and takes most CC's.
(4)T H.
Excellent food. Excellent wait staff. Great salad bar. You get what you pay for, in a good way.

Came for a business meeting at the suggestion of someone local and it was very good. Salad bar is enough for a complete meal and the steaks were excellent!!! Go and enjoy.
(4)JW S.
My favorite fine dining place in Sioux Falls. Compares with the greats in big cities and has amazing steaks, service, and bread.
(5)Patrick B.
So a Californian in town on business comes in for dinner twice. Of course, he finds a great steak and a great wine list both times.

(5)Sean M.
On a rainy night in Sioux Falls, this place was a fantastic find. Service was exceptional, food was of the highest quality, and it's a beautiful atmosphere. We both had steaks that rival any other high-priced Steakhouse we've visited. Definitely recommend this to others visiting the area.
(5)Sara S.

(5)Chris C.
If you like WAY over-priced, boring food, look no further. The only reason to ever burn your money here is the kind bartender and the fact that it's the only thing that's not Applebee's, Ruby Tuesday's, or a drive-thru that's open after 9 in SuFu, SoDak.
(1)sushiRadioheadpuppies R.
I liked Minerva's. It's a bit overpriced but for an occasional nice night out it's great. Steaks are good and service is too. They could tone down the salad bar and focus on some of the misses that Lana hit on (and I agree with).
(4)Alex V.

(4)Alexandria G.
Very bad service. Ran out of water and was not offered a refill. I was sitting at the bar. Will not return for another visit
(1)Nick C.
Steak Michael was incredible! One of the best dinners I've had. The service was good. The only downside to the evening was the hostess (pregnant girl) was brain dead. She made a simple task of finding us a table a painful event.
(4)Michael P.

(4)Vidal C.
Very nice small town / European feel. Sit outside on the bistro tables enjoy an apertif or a glass of wine and excellent food.
(4)Todd V.
So, for others who said this place is fancy, I would say the only thing fancy are the prices. The salad bar is lack luster. The steaks fine but nothing spectacular. And please for the love of good play better music if you are going to play music it was a step up from elevator music.
(3)Matt L.
(4)Steve P.
Phenomenal salad bar. Steaks were cooked to perfection. Ambiance A+. We could not find a single problem here and will make it a regular stop every time we are inSioux Falls.
(5)Gretchen A.
(4)Jeff D.
(3)Jimmy P.
(5)Todd C.
(5)Brad S.
(2)Kimberly G.
(5)Jeremy H.
Food was very good, but a tad skimpy. Service was excellent! Very nice/helpful staff.

Decided to come back for dinner a second time. I arrived a bit earlier and was pleasantly surprised to see that Minervas has a prix fixe special Mon-Thursday until 6:30pm. For $19 you had your choice of an appetizer, or glass of wine, entrée and dessert . For $2.50 more you can make your appetizer the salad bar. I opted for the salad bar, grilled salmon over basil risotto, and tiramisu for dessert. I also added a glass of the house sauvignon blanc, which was quite nice. The Salad bar was great other then the previously mentioned cheap blocks of cheese. My salmon was very nicely cooked and the basil risotto was delicious. The tiramisu was a let down. The lady fingers were soft and cake like, in between layers of plain whipped cream, covered with cheap-ish bottled chocolate sauce (like you'd put on ice cream). I prefer my tiramisu to have more flavors of coffee and rum/brandy, and the filling to be a more decadent mascarpone cheese. Seemed like corners were cut. After two experiences, I'd still rate Minervas as a solid 4 start offering in Sioux Falls. The salad bar is delicious and an excellent value, steaks and fish are cooked properly by a knowledgeable kitchen staff and the front of the house is supported by friendly hosts and waitstaff. My only recommendation is if you're looking for something sweet after dinner, skip the dessert offerings and get some fresh fruit from the salad bar.
(4)Weston M.
A good place to eat. The steak I had was phenomenal with a great steak gravy. The salad bar was good but the soups were rather bland. I had the Tiramisu to top the meal off, the flavor was fantastic. The restaurant is generally great food however the price matches unless you order a special.
(4)Sabrina S.
(4)Guy S.
(3)Mike A.
(4)Gina B.
Visiting from out of town! Great downtown location!Amazing food and service! Salmon tortellini was the best dish I have had in a long time and I'm from Houston!! Nice clean bathrooms too!!
(5)Richard K.
(2)Anne F.
(5)Katie A.
Well done Minervas'!! The salmon salad is excellent- grilled asparagus, salmon, artichoke, roasted red peppers, and tomatoes. What a great combination! Excellent wine list selection, great atmosphere, and service was great. I will definitely come back.
(4)Tina K.
I used to come here quite a bit but moved away. As i was passing thru i was able to stop after years away and nothing has changed. Dont ever change! Amazing food. Excellent service. As always, thank you!
(4)Troy R.
